The fire created severe damage to the roof and the party wall shared with the neighboring home.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"low\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Three-alarm fire in Great Kills Jan. 30, 2026\" class=\"article__image-content\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/A3HCC5ERSVAKHF3DZ2YRSI57HU.jpg\"  \/>A three-alarm fire broke out at 250 Elverton Ave. in Great Kills on Jan 30, 2026.(Steve White for the Advance\/SILive.com)<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ZFZAUSVRBJCS7COMG6VR7O2MCM\">Structural fire damage was also observed by the same department inspectors at 250 Elverton Ave., the neighboring 2-story, single-family home, where the second floor collapsed onto the first floor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"72VK3CJW7VGSXKAPFGL4PLH3KY\">\u201cAs a result of the fire, DOB has issued Full Vacate Orders at 248 and 250 Elverton Ave., and issued orders for the installation of a fence around the two fire-damaged buildings,\u201d the spokesperson revealed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"QN3SXTW7J5D55OIOGKAJYC6YTM\">There was also additional non-structural fire damage to the vinyl siding of 254 Elverton Ave., Great Kills.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"L6FPOSZEKBC4LJMH2HUHDTSQMY\">First responders on scene informed DOB that there were 6 minor injuries and one moderate injury associated with this fire, the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"AEZXQGYSIVBY5MMWWSFFRF67LA\">On Sunday, DOB engineers returned to the scene to meet with the property owners and agency partners to discuss next steps needed to protect the public from the fire-damaged buildings. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"TZPSKAAI7JEFBOHU7E7XSZOPAM\">\u201cWe will be following up with the owners on this work,\u201d the spokesman said.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"low\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Three-alarm fire in Great Kills Jan. 30, 2026\" class=\"article__image-content\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/PIGJENTKJVH3DBDUMBC3VJP5P4.jpg\"  \/>A three-alarm fire broke out at 250 Elverton Ave. in Great Kills on Jan 30, 2026.(Steve White for the Advance\/SILive.com)Saturday night fire<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"OCCHP62XMFHRTAJEFTHHSZ6ZNI\">The fire broke out on Jan. 31 around 11:23 p.m., at 250 Elverton Ave., which is situated on a dead-end street off Leverett Avenue in Great Kills, a spokesperson for the FDNY <a href=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/news\/2026\/01\/3-firefighters-2-civilians-taken-to-staten-island-hospitals-after-pair-of-devastating-fires-rip-through-homes.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/news\/2026\/01\/3-firefighters-2-civilians-taken-to-staten-island-hospitals-after-pair-of-devastating-fires-rip-through-homes.html\">previously told the Advance\/SILive.com.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"TH46M35DB5B6JHA76PLLHVQGOI\">Flames tore through the 2.5 story private dwelling and strengthened to the point where a second alarm was declared at 11:42 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"X57CAAPHY5FILGF5VK65JHJPXM\">As noted by the spokesperson at the time, at 12:44 a.m. Saturday, the Elverton Avenue fire demanded a third alarm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"WWKKKMRPAVG5JITO57DLPGOKMA\">The flames were brought under control by 2:53 a.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"EEK6ODMSSBDPHPF5VXNRJETBD4\">Ultimately, one civilian and two firefighters were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the FDNY said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"DWJQMH2HUBEMRBJATJUSGCF4ZU\">The Department of Buildings was requested due to a partial collapse of the structure. However, the FDNY spokesperson explained that none of the injuries were sustained from this collapse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"7QM6EHPU75B35H2C2B74XU3GBQ\">Initial reports said five people, including two firefighters, were injured. A total of seven people were hurt, said Buildings, citing the FDNY.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"GLYHN3MZPRFWRNF7HV7SDAFA4Y\">A freelancer for the Advance\/SILive.com said he saw a wall collapse within the structure. Fire personnel was subsequently withdrawn from the house to continue combatting the blaze from the exterior, he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"DZCA6K4BZFAK3PT7MFUCQTAAT4\">Photos from the scene depicted a massive emergency response. An orange glow was seen through the smoke billowing from openings in the structure.
