A magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck San Ramon, California, on Monday morning, about 25 miles from Levi\u2019s Stadium in Santa Clara, where Super Bowl 60<\/a> will be played Sunday.<\/p>\n

The U.S. Geological Survey<\/a> has since reported several aftershocks, including ones with magnitudes of 3.9 and 3.8. According to KABC<\/a> no injuries were reported. The station also showed video <\/a>of a 7-Eleven in San Ramon that had a few items knocked off its shelves.<\/p>\n

The earthquakes come on the first major day of Super Bowl activities. Most of the media events are scheduled to take place at the San Jose Convention Center, with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell <\/a>scheduled to speak Monday at 3 p.m. EST, and Super Bowl Opening Night scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. EST. The game between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots is Sunday.<\/p>\n

This is not the first time that an earthquake has taken place at or around the time of a major sporting event. A 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck just before the start of Game 3 of the 1989 World Series between the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A\u2019s at Candlestick Park in San Francisco.
