A Central New York county had one of the top 25 longest commutes in the state during a five-year period from 2020 to 2024, according to new census data.<\/p>\n

Oswego County\u2019s average commute time of 25.1 minutes was the 25th-longest in the state in that period. Oswego was tied with Livingston County for the No. 25 spot.<\/p>\n

The Census Bureau released the new data Jan. 29.<\/p>\n

Four of the top five counties with the longest average commutes in the state in the new data were New York City boroughs:<\/p>\n

Bronx County: 43.3 minutes, No. 1 statewideRichmond County (Staten Island): 43.1 minutes, No. 2Queens County: 42.9 minutes, No. 3Kings County (Brooklyn): 41.7 minutes, No. 4<\/p>\n

Those were also the only counties in the state with average commute times over 40 minutes. No. 5 was Putnam County at 39.3 minutes.<\/p>\n

Commute times for the big four Upstate New York counties were toward the bottom of the list:<\/p>\n

Albany County: 21.4 minutes, No. 49 statewideErie County: 21.3 minutes, No. 50Onondaga County: 20.2 minutes, No. 56Monroe County: 19.9 minutes, No. 59<\/p>\n
