The New York State Police have announced the launch of a new traffic safety initiative that will target dangerous drivers on select New York highways.<\/p>\n
If you spend any time driving along the Sprain Brook Parkway or I-684, you are well aware that there are some drivers who drive like they are the only ones on the road. There’s the “get out of my way” driver, the “I can’t make up my mind which lane to drive in” driver, and my favorite, the “tailgater”. The good news is that the New York State Police (NYSP) are aware that these types of drivers are a problem and have announced a possible solution.<\/p>\n

The NYSP, along with Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace, announced the District Attorney\u2019s Safer Highways, or D.A.S.H. program at a press conference on Monday, according to the Daily Voice<\/a>. The program will increase NY State Police patrols on both roadways through February, targeting a number of unsafe driving behaviors, including speeding, reckless driving, impaired driving, road rage, and more.<\/p>\n “No one should have to fear losing life or limb when getting on the highway,” Cacace said, “With D.A.S.H., my message to the driving public is this: Slow down, or we’ll do it for you.”<\/p>\n New York State Police Traffic Stop<\/p>\n New York State Police Via FacebookSafer Highways Program in New York<\/p>\n The D.A.S.H initiative will include additional troopers from Troop K tasked with patrolling the two highways, along with the District Attorney\u2019s Office assigning two assistant district attorneys to work directly with State Police during the initiative.<\/p>\n
