Brooklyn Museum\u2019s First Saturday programming will begin Feb. 7, with a tribute to Black artistry. <\/p>\n

The Brooklyn Museum on Eastern Parkway in Prospect Heights is kicking off February with a slate of events designed to draw in visitors of all ages to what it proudly calls the \u201cPeople\u2019s Museum.\u201d<\/p>\n
The month\u2019s programming includes the museum\u2019s first First Saturdays of 2026, a lively Lunar New Year festival ushering in the spirited Year of the Horse, and a range of creative workshops for families.<\/p>\n
Highlights include:\n<\/p>\n
First Saturday: Imitate No One<\/a><\/p>\n Saturday, Feb. 7, 5-10 p.m. This edition of the museum\u2019s popular First Saturda<\/a>y marks Black History Month with a tribute to trailblazing artists who reinvent tradition. Visitors can take in a lively mix of music, magic, art-making, poetry, and more as the celebration unfolds throughout the museum.<\/p>\n Salsa Party<\/a><\/p>\n Thursday, Feb. 12, 6-9:30 p.m. Put on your most comfortable dancing shoes and celebrate the return of the Museum\u2019s Salsa Party series with a dance-filled evening hosted by Balmir Dance Society. Kick off the evening with a lesson led by professional dancers at 6 pm, followed by live music, social dancing, and performances by the borough\u2019s best Latin dance teams.<\/p>\n Drop-In Workshops: Life at Sea<\/a><\/p>\n Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 14-15 and 28, 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; Visitors can take \u201ca deep dive\u201d into Oliver Jeffers: Life at Sea<\/a> at this family-friendly event, and help expand this underwater world, designing colorful new ocean life, from coral to 3D fish, to add to Life at Sea.<\/p>\n For the Love of Art<\/a><\/p>\n Saturday, Feb. 14, 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. This Valentine\u2019s Day event provides more than just a Hallmark holiday. Couples, friends, or individuals are invited to spend a romantic, platonic, or restorative solo Valentine\u2019s Day while enjoying a variety of art- and poetry-centered activities.<\/p>\n Weekend Art: Saturday Sketch Club<\/a><\/p>\n Saturday, Feb. 14, 1-4 p.m. Get inspired by the sculptures in the Museum\u2019s Egyptian Galleries, and create sketches of works that reveal a variety of relationships among ancient Egyptians.\n<\/p>\n Lunar New Year Celebration<\/a><\/p>\n Sunday, Feb. 15, 12-4 p.m. Celebrate the Year of the Horse with lively performances and hands-on activities for all ages.\n<\/p>\n Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra: De Falla and Dvo\u0159\u00e1k<\/a><\/p>\n Sunday, Feb. 15, 2-4 p.m. Step into worlds both folkloric and symphonic at this concert conducted by Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra Artistic Director Felipe Trist\u00e1n. Poetry Workshop: Rubin Museum Tibetan Buddhist Shrine Room<\/a><\/p>\n Sunday, Feb. 22, 11 a.m.-1:30 .pm. Contemplate the Museum\u2019s Asian Art collection and the Rubin Museum Tibetan Buddhist Shrine Room, and join Tsering Wangmo Dhompa, associate professor of literature and creative writing at Villanova University, for this generative poetic creative-writing experience.<\/p>\n Stroller Tours: Everyday Rebellions<\/a><\/p>\n Wednesday, Feb. 25, 10-11:15 a.m. The interactive tour of Everyday Rebellions: Collection Conversations is designed for children up to 24 months and features touchable objects, songs, and engaging explorations of artworks, showcasing how contemporary artists infuse daily life with gestures of creative defiance.<\/p>\n Family Concerts: Lilli and the Firebird<\/a><\/p>\n Saturday, Feb. 28, 1-2:15 p.m. and 3:30-4:45 p.m.
