STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 A 52-year-old man from Dongan Hills has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash in December in Meiers Corners.<\/p>\n
Nasri Abed of Buttonwood Road was allegedly driving a white Infiniti QX60 on Dec. 22 at about 4 p.m. in the vicinity of Victory Boulevard and Bradley Avenue, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
The victim was a 47-year-old stranger, according to a law-enforcement source.<\/p>\n
The episode began when the victim was driving straight ahead on Victory Boulevard while Abed was the second car in line to make a left turn from Mann Avenue onto Victory, according to a law-enforcement source.<\/p>\n
The victim allowed the first car to turn left at the intersection before proceeding along Victory, the source said. Drivers on Mann have stop signs while Victory is uncontrolled at that location.<\/p>\n
The defendant turned onto Victory and pulled his Infiniti alongside the victim, who then stopped and exited his vehicle. A shouting match ensued between the victim and the defendant, the source said. <\/p>\n
The victim ran after the defendant\u2019s car as it traveled toward the intersection of Bradley Avenue, the source said. <\/p>\n
The defendant made a U-turn in a parking lot and then allegedly ran over the victim\u2019s legs before driving away along Victory Boulevard, according to the source.<\/p>\n
The criminal complaint alleges that, \u201cwith the intent to cause serious physical injury,\u201d Abed drove his vehicle into the victim. <\/p>\n
The victim fell to the ground and suffered injuries that included bleeding, swelling, bruising, and fractures to the ankle, the complaint alleges.<\/p>\n
The victim was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton.<\/p>\n
Abed did not stop and provide license and insurance information or report the crash to police, the complaint alleges. <\/p>\n
Abed has been charged with attempted assault, assault, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon, leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury and harassment.<\/p>\n
The defendant has pleaded not guilty to all charges and has been released with non-monetary conditions. <\/p>\n
He is due back in Criminal Court in St. George on March 17, according to public records.<\/p>\n
