Home and business owners are responsible for clearing sidewalks in front of their properties. The city gave owners a deadline of 12:30 p.m. the next day to avoid fines, which can reach up to $350 for multiple offenses, according to the Department of Sanitation. And, the city is asking residents to call 311 if they see piles of snow on sidewalks.

Property owners are expected to clear a path at least four-feet wide with clear access to crosswalks. Owners must spread salt on frozen ground and shovel any relevant bus stops and fire hydrants, according to DSNY.

It was no small task after the storm dropped nearly a foot of snow on the city. Central Park saw 11.4 inches of snow while areas in the Bronx saw over a foot.
