In a dramatic legal battle with a rare Wu\u2011Tang album at its center, the infamous \u201cPharma Bro\u201d Martin Shkreli<\/a> filed new claims accusing RZA of double\u2011selling rights to Once Upon a Time in Shaolin<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to Billboard<\/a>, Shkreli has filed a countersuit accusing Wu\u2011Tang Clan\u2019s RZA of improperly double\u2011selling rights to the group\u2019s one\u2011of\u2011a\u2011kind album Once Upon a Time in Shaolin. <\/p>\n

Shkreli\u2019s filing, which pulls RZA into an ongoing dispute with PleasrDAO, claims RZA and producer Cilvaringz wrongfully transferred rights that Shkreli says were already contractually promised to him, the publication said. <\/p>\n

Billboard reports that PleasrDAO\u2019s attorney dismissed the countersuit as another attempt by Shkreli to \u201cdistract and delay,\u201d while Shkreli\u2019s lawyer argued that the new claims reveal a more complex story behind the album\u2019s ownership battle. <\/p>\n

According to Billboard, the lawsuit centers on Shkreli\u2019s assertion that Wu\u2011Tang oversold the album\u2019s rights by \u201ca total of 150%,\u201d despite his 2015 purchase that allegedly granted him half the copyrights immediately and the remaining half decades later.<\/p>\n

Billboard notes that PleasrDAO had previously sued Shkreli over threats to leak the rare album, which a federal judge recently said could qualify as a trade secret. <\/p>\n
