STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Commuters are waking to wet streets and sidewalks as a nor\u2019easter continues to pummel Staten Island into the Monday Columbus day rush hour.<\/p>\n

A little over an inch of rain was recorded at the College of Staten Island by about 4 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n

A powerful coastal storm is set to impact Staten Island with strong winds and significant rainfall on Monday, according to the National Weather Service. <\/p>\n

Residents should prepare for potentially dangerous conditions throughout the day, with wind gusts up to 35 mph and rainfall expected to reach one inch.<\/a><\/p>\n

Delays are possible on the Staten Island Railway as fallen leaves mix with rain to form slippery conditions on the rails, according to the MTA.<\/p>\n

As of about 6 a.m., no alerts are posted for the bridges linking Staten Island to New Jersey and Brooklyn.<\/p>\n

On the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, truck restrictions continue into the Monday morning commute, according to 511NY.<\/p>\n

Empty tractor-trailer trucks and tandem trailers are prohibited due to high winds. <\/p>\n

Drivers are asked to continue slowing down because road surfaces are wet on the Verrazzano.<\/p>\n

Isolated power outages are reported around the borough.<\/p>\n
