A week after rupturing the ACL in her left knee, Lindsey Vonn opened her chase for Olympic gold\u00a0at the age of 41 with an aggressive and successful downhill training run on Friday \u2014 two days before the race.<\/p>\n
Vonn got tight with her line midway down and only narrowly cleared a gate but she led at the final checkpoints, then stood up out of her tuck before the finish and placed 11th as skiers got their first official turns on the Olympia delle Tofane course ahead of the big race.<\/p>\n

When can you watch Lindsey Vonn compete at the Olympics?<\/p>\n
February 6-7 \u2014 Women’s Downhill Training: This will be the first time Vonn is able to properly test how her injured left knee. Vonn, who would benefit from any additional time for recovery, caught a break when organizers announced Thursday\u2019s opening downhill training session\u00a0would not be held\u00a0due to the heavy ongoing snowfall on the course. <\/p>\n
Two more training sessions are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, and Vonn needs to start at least one session to take part in Sunday\u2019s race. She might only do just one.<\/p>\n
February 8 \u2014 Women’s Downhill Final: The women’s downhill final begins at 5:30 a.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n
Vonn’s participation in the final is contingent on her being able to start at least one of the training sessions.<\/p>\n

It is a regular stop on the FIS Ski World Cup tour. All races will be held on the Olympia delle Tofane slope.<\/p>\n The men’s events will be held on the Stelvio slope in Bormio \u2014 one of the most difficult slopes in the world for Alpine skiers and some gradients reaching 63% (twice the steepness of an average run for a recreational skier).<\/p>\n
