Trayvon Kisling, 18, of Staten Island was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the alleged shooting death of a Brooklyn man in Vermont in 2022. <\/p>\nSTATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 A 21-year-old man from Staten Island was sentenced to 10 years in prison after authorities found large amounts of fentanyl and cocaine in his apartment and car in Vermont.<\/p>\n
Trayvon Kisling possessed and conspired with others to distribute those drugs in Vermont, according to court documents detailed in a news release from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.<\/p>\n

U.S. District Judge William K. Sessions III sentenced Kisling on Feb. 2 to 120 months in prison followed by a four-year term of supervised release, according to the release.<\/p>\n
Kisling\u2019s community was not immediately available.<\/p>\n
Some of those drugs were seized on Feb. 25, 2023, when police in Winooski searched an apartment where Kisling had been staying. Officers confiscated 134.43 grams of individually packaged fentanyl, 74 grams of bulk fentanyl, 179.4 grams of crack cocaine and 398.3 grams of powder cocaine, authorities said.<\/p>\n
On March 15, 2023, Kisling was in a car that was pulled over by police in Brandon, Vermont. Officers found about 450 bags of fentanyl, 40.8 grams of cocaine base and two firearms in the car, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n
Authorities allege that Kisling possessed the guns to protect his drug supply and illegal proceeds.<\/p>\n
The defendant pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute 28 grams or more of cocaine base and 40 grams or more of fentanyl and possession of firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.<\/p>\n
First Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan A. Ophardt commended the collaborative efforts of investigating agencies that included the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Vermont State Police, the Rutland City Police Department, the NYPD, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Winooski Police Department, the Winooski Fire Department and the St. Michael\u2019s Fire Department.<\/p>\n
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Wendy Fuller. Kisling was represented by attorney Richard Bothfeld.<\/p>\n
Charged in murder of Brooklyn man in Vermont<\/p>\n
Kisling was 18 years old when he was arrested in March 2023 in the murder of Jonathan Naranjo, 26, of Brooklyn. Naranjo was shot on Nov. 7, 2022, in Rutland, Vermont.<\/p>\n
Kisling initially was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree aggravated domestic assault and obstruction of justice.<\/p>\n
