FAR ROCKAWAY, Queens (PIX11) \u2014 Three people were rescued from icy waters after possibly falling through the ice Friday evening, according to police.<\/p>\n
Authorities received a 911 call at around 4:15 p.m. for multiple people in the water near 13-10 Norton Avenue, officials said.<\/p>\n
More Local News <\/a><\/p>\n The Fire Department, Emergency Medical Sercives and the NYPD assisted in rescuing, police said.<\/p>\n Fire trucks, police vehicles, an ambulance, and a helicopter were present at the scene.<\/p>\n Multiple first responders were seen on a sheet of ice, using ropes to assist individuals who appeared to be in distress. At one point, a first responder hooked to a chopper was seen lifting someone into the air and guiding them to the sidewalk, according to a video posted on Citizen<\/a>.<\/p>\n Three people were taken to area hospitals, police said.<\/p>\n Their status remains unclear.<\/p>\n Matthew Euzarraga is a multimedia journalist from El Paso, Texas.
