{"id":128103,"date":"2026-02-09T22:34:46","date_gmt":"2026-02-09T22:34:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/128103\/"},"modified":"2026-02-09T22:34:46","modified_gmt":"2026-02-09T22:34:46","slug":"siuh-receives-10-5m-in-state-funds-to-improve-mental-health-care-access","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/128103\/","title":{"rendered":"SIUH receives $10.5M in state funds to improve mental health care access"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"2YJ6U4TTIVGPLDCKASU5PQUXQM\">STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Northwell Staten Island University Hospital has been awarded significant grant funding from New York state to advance behavioral health and addiction services across the borough \u2013 representing one of the most substantial investments in mental health, substance use, and pediatric behavioral care in Staten Island\u2019s history, the hospital has announced.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"4WAU4RHRRZCM3O3LG2W4HHTBWY\">Supported by $3.5 million in COE funding and an additional $7 million in previously awarded state capital funding, this multi-year investment will allow SIUH to enhance coordinated behavioral health services for adults, children and families in Centers for Excellence, the Ocean Breeze hospital announced in a recent media release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"DBLZSRAMEFH2ZE6K7U6CO3TFGY\">In January, the hospital opened its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/news\/2026\/01\/new-siuh-program-aims-to-speed-access-to-mental-health-care-for-youth-teens.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/news\/2026\/01\/new-siuh-program-aims-to-speed-access-to-mental-health-care-for-youth-teens.html\">Linkage, Intake, and Navigation for Kids <\/a>program, aimed at providing children and adolescents with rapid access to mental health services. But more centers are planned as the need is great, a hospital spokesperson said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BVSKKYT3PZBMRDJSKF4YUWFRKY\">This newest funding also aims to close long-standing gaps in care, reduce barriers to access, and support individuals at every stage of life through integrated, person-centered approaches, administrators say.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BABIIVU6PZF5VKGU4HQTVFYGBQ\">\u201cThis investment allows us to move beyond a fragmented model and build a true system of care \u2013 one that treats addiction, mental health, and physical health together,\u201d said Dr. John Q.
