Chrysler has issued a safety recall for one of its most popular Jeep models because of issues with the suspension system. <\/p>\n

Around 80,620 vehicles are affected by the recall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Documents filed with the highway safety agency stated that incorrectly installed rear coil springs could detach from the vehicles while driving, increasing the chance of a crash.<\/p>\n

Affected vehicles include the 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L models.<\/p>\n

While the issue could pose a major hazard, the manufacturer estimates that only around 0.5% of the recalled vehicles actually have the defect.<\/p>\n

While no warning sign of the issue was provided, Chrysler advises impacted Grand Cherokee owners to bring their vehicles to a dealer.<\/p>\n

There, dealers will inspect and repair the rear coil spring assembly as needed, free of charge. <\/p>\n

Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail beginning in March, according to the manufacturer.<\/p>\n

Jeep owners can contact Chrysler\u2019s customer service line at (800) 853-1403 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration\u2019s safety hotline at (888) 327-4236 to see if they are covered by the recall.<\/p>\n

In November, around 112,850 hybrid Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles<\/a> were also recalled because of a risk of engine failure and fire. <\/p>\n

According to provided documents, certain engines could be contaminated with sand from the casting process. <\/p>\n
