Shockwaves hit the Disneyland fandom when the performer who went viral as the Evil Queen from \u201cSnow White and the Seven Dwarfs\u201d was abruptly fired<\/a> and escorted out of the park.<\/p>\n

Actress and singer Sabrina Von B. stunned in her character performance of the icy Evil Queen, going viral and drawing fans from around the world to the California theme park.<\/p>\n

All of that came to a screeching halt earlier in January. After eight years of \u201ckeeping the magic,\u201d she was \u201clet go\u201d by The Walt Disney Company<\/a> and escorted out of the very gates she first entered at age 18.<\/p>\n

For eight years Sabrina Von B. played Snow White\u2019s Evil Queen at Disneyland, until she was terminated by Disney. Anthony Matulin<\/p>\n

\u201cIt happened a lot more quietly than you would think,\u201d she recalled. \u201cI was walked out of the gates\u2026 I walked out of the same gates I walked in from my first day there.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress couldn\u2019t comment on the exact reason behind the termination but said that she felt it was \u201cunwarranted.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe virality played a small role, but ultimately, the popularity of my character was not why I was let go,\u201d Von B. said, adding that the firing had nothing to do with her age, her performance or her look.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Over the past few years, Von B. has frequently gone viral for her hilarious interactions with guests at Disneyland while playing Snow White\u2019s Evil Queen. Leah Huebner<\/p>\n

Right after Disney axed the Evil Queen, Von B. was escorted out through the fairy-tale-kingdom gates \u2014 much like the bitter end of the classic movie, where the Queen is cast off a cliff.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a shock,\u201d said Von B. \u201cIt all happened very quickly, I didn\u2019t get a proper goodbye.\u201d<\/p>\n

As part of Disneyland\u2019s theme park<\/a> policy, character actors must \u201ckeep the magic\u201d by concealing their true identities from the public. Now that Von B. is a free agent, she has officially unveiled herself to fans online \u2014 racking up millions of followers who were sad to see her go and eager to find out what she\u2019ll do next.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like Disney\u2019s policy on characters \u2014 their character performers remaining anonymous \u2014 which obviously some do want to, and that is completely fine, but not even making it like a possibility to come out publicly and show your work definitely is a bit of a weird spot to be in, but you know, it\u2019s part of the job when you sign up for it,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

\u201cI did a good job of keeping that magic up until the end, when I no longer had to anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n

Von B. portrayed the Disney character from the age 18 to 26. During her time at the theme park, she also added Maleficent, Agatha Harkness and Lady Tremaine to her repertoire. Sabrina Von B.<\/p>\n

Von B. described her shedding the cloak as akin to the Hannah Montana character. \u201cI\u2019ve been playing this character for a long time, but then, people are finding out it\u2019s me. It\u2019s like a big reveal, said Von B. \u201cIt just sort of feels like that double life is now formed into one.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Von B.\u2019s alter ego, the Queen, is beloved for her quippy comebacks and viral one-liners, including her \u201call natural\u201d slogan referring to the Queen\u2019s no-makeup beauty, which have endured online.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Queen really just takes over. It\u2019s a huge improv exercise \u2014 but when you\u2019ve done a character so long and live in that brain for so long, sometimes magic just comes out,\u201d said Von B., who added that it had been an \u201chonor\u201d to laugh with her fans but that she wished she could have left on her own terms.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish Disney treasured or valued their cast members<\/a> in a way, and realized the value that every individual brings to their company, before sort of removing them,\u201d she said. \u201cI wish that it didn\u2019t feel like we were dispensable to them.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress always intended to move on from the role as her career blossomed, but she also loved what she did and wasn\u2019t ready to leave.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI just really ultimately loved my job and was keeping it as long as I could, until one of my dreams came into fruition,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The actress couldn\u2019t comment on the exact reason behind the termination but said that she felt it was \u201cunwarranted.\u201d Sabrina Von B.<\/p>\n

\u201cKeeping the magic\u201d is an important part of Disney\u2019s performances but it can also make it hard for the actors to gain traction in their own careers when they can\u2019t disclose what they are working on publicly.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that the policy of keeping the magic, in and of itself,\u00a0I don\u2019t find it problematic or offensive. Their policy falls within the at-will doctrine. Disney is selling magic, that is what they are doing, so I don\u2019t think it is any different from any other employment rule or procedures that employers have,\u201d said employment attorney Marina Fraigun.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The same goes for Von B.\u2019s job. Without knowing the exact reason for her termination, it\u2019s hard to say if she has a wrongful termination case. However, \u201cEven if we believe that the virality of her fame is what got her fired, I still don\u2019t think she has a wrongful termination claim. If [she] was fired for her performance or her actual act or what she did, I would need those facts to evaluate,\u201d said Fraigun.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI know things on the other side will come out alright in the end, but it was a devastating loss for me. It\u2019s like losing your best friend,\u201d Von B. Said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Since the news broke of her separation from Disney she\u2019s been focused on auditioning and taking her career to the next level.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m truly just taking it all in right now. And it\u2019s really amazing to receive so much love and support, and I\u2019m really grateful,\u201d she said. But the job loss has had real-world ramifications and has landed the actress in a \u201cbit of a tight spot.\u201d <\/p>\n

As she plans to put all her eggs in one basket and shoot for the stars, she also knows if she had to, she could always turn to the service industry. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always wanted to work in a coffee shop,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
