Junior Gabe Moschella chipped in 14 for the Tigers (19-4 overall, 12-3 ACIS).<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ZCMY6FWLS5HFTOHOXP46HM65WI\">Second-seeded SIA rode Nowak\u2019s nine first-quarter points to take a 21-12 lead after the opening eight minutes. Meanwhile, Moschella and DeVito each hit a three-pointer in the first period, as the Tigers\u2019 offense started clicking early.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ZPGKWTBQ3VB5DGEEFOWOSLQMUU\">\u201cWe played with some nice tempo to start the game,\u201d Tigers head coach, Mike Mazella, praised. \u201cDanny was effective getting to the rim and drawing fouls, and his aggressiveness was a key in setting the tone for us.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BZ3UNCWXTRHBFJMCVEVXNXZ7PQ\">The SIA defense, meanwhile, was doing its best to contain BC\u2019s talented senior guard, Ackiee Brown, who led all scorers with 27.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"7FNA72SJEBGYDPT476SYJT5TBM\">\u201cBrown is a tough match-up, and BC definitely tries to run their offense through him,\u201d Mazella noted. \u201cWe just wanted to make him work for anything he got.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"VOGPCLJ6YJCZ7H3RBNOSTL4SGE\">Guards Ayden Howe (six points) and Johnny Elefterakis spearheaded the Tiger defensive effort, and guard Mike Belkin came off the bench to contribute five points and six rebounds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"TDOW6OZTHJGKZCOSDCAHTLVANQ\">\u201cSaturday\u2019s loss (to Sea in the SIHSL Tourney) was a tough one to swallow,\u201d Mazella mused, \u201cand we needed to come out today and establish our style of play early on. Our games against BC in the regular season were both one possession games, and I was happy to see us get the lead after the first period and then increase it as the game went on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"3AQIPWGQGVEULPHXSOO3U6OUQM\">The Tigers now take on the third-seeded Avenues, who split their regular season matchups with SIA. Game time on Wednesday is 5:45 PM with the winner advancing to Friday\u2019s ACIS championship game at Grace Church.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"5NDQEYTDDNHQJE3IJGOSMT75CE\">Junior varsity<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"GU7WKTX3YJGQHDEUOD36MC26QM\">Tottenville 66, Beach Channel 63<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"G77VRRTHMJEVFB65GHGIX2OYCA\">STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Lucas Souleidis poured in a game-high 28 points to lead the Pirates to a PSAL first-round playoff game against the visiting Dolphins on Monday in Huguenot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"3ASMTQODFVDCHLJF6ZOV53JXSA\">No. 7-seeded Tottenville, which also received 22 points from Blair Tadros, advanced to the second round and will host No. 10 Brandeis later this week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"KLAGIH67O5CGTAXB63VD4MU2ZQ\">Souleidis\u2019 big game included three three-pointers and a 9-for-11 performance from the free-throw line. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"T45RXQ5TW5AZNC75MXFDAB2LFY\">Tottenville head coach Brian Linner, however, referred to seldom-used reserve Malachi Jacobs as the game\u2019s MVP after scoring seven fourth-quarter points, including a pair of corner triples.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"I43TSZ7FONCJNOS6QJW2DOCCYI\">Amier Alexander scored 20 points, including three treys, for the Dolphins.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"IJIJ5WQMPNFL5OA4QFCXKPU5E4\">Avenues 56, SIA 51<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"QWCJSLTFTVE4ZND7QH44EGZSVI\">STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 The Tigers dropped the quarterfinal contest against visiting Avenues. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"VPE24HLHEZE75ELVBHC4KDQBP4\">Patrick Sheehan led SIA in scoring with 16 points, including four second-half three pointers.
