A man named Moe says he captures the weekly gatherings across the Bronx.<\/p>\n
He spoke with New 12 to discuss why the gatherings continue to happen.<\/p>\n
“We don’t like to hurt nobody. We go to a place that is empty and do what we do. We have fun… drift around and stuff,” he said.<\/p>\n
Moe called the gatherings “harmless.”<\/p>\n
Neighbors in Throgs Neck tell News 12 the sound of cars doing donuts wakes them up in the middle of the night.<\/p>\n
“1 a.m. on a Sunday, on a Monday… not even on the weekend,” said longtime resident, Melissa.<\/p>\n
“Crowds of people are in the back with all their cars, as soon as they see the cops they cut out,” said another resident Debbie.<\/p>\n
Moe said he is aware their gatherings are illegal. <\/p>\n
News 12 asked why they continue to meet up.<\/p>\n
“We love cars, we just love cars… if something happens, you’re going to go to jail, but at the same time, we do it in a safe place, you know? There’s no cars, no traffic, no kids,” said Moe.<\/p>\n
Moe is calling for secure, legal places for these groups to gather.<\/p>\n
