New York City Center Encores! has found full casting for its\u00a0upcoming run of Michael John LaChiusa<\/a>‘s\u00a0The Wild Party<\/a>, set to play the Manhattan venue March 18-29. As previously announced, Jasmine Amy Rogers<\/a> (BOOP!) and Adrienne Warren<\/a> (The Last Five Years) will lead the company as Queenie and Kate, respectively, alongside\u00a0Joseph A. Byrd\u00a0as Phil D\u2019Armano, Claybourne Elder<\/a>\u00a0as Jackie, and Evan Tyrone Martin\u00a0as Eddie Mackrel.<\/p>\n

Newly revealed to be joining them are\u00a0Tonya Pinkins<\/a>, an alum of the musical’s original Broadway cast, as Dolores Montoya;\u00a0Jelani Alladin<\/a> (Frozen)\u00a0as Black, Wesley J. Barnes<\/a> as Oscar D\u2019Armano, Jordan Donica<\/a> (Camelot)\u00a0as Burrs, KJ Hippensteel<\/a> as Gold, Andrew Kober<\/a> as Goldberg, Lesli Margherita<\/a> (Gypsy)\u00a0as Mae, Betsy Morgan<\/a> (Masquerade)\u00a0as Sally, Meghan Murphy as Miss Madelaine True, and Maya Rowe as Nadine. Standbys Curtis Bannister and Kyrie Courter<\/a> will round out the company.\u00a0Casting is by The Telsey Office<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Adapted from Joseph Moncure March<\/a>‘s poem of the same name by LaChiusa and original director\u00a0George C. Wolfe<\/a>,\u00a0The Wild Party centers on a prohibition-era New York City house party being thrown by Queenie and Burrs as their relationship falls apart, an evening that becomes something of a rager thanks to a bathtub full of gin, ample cocaine, and a tragic orgy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The musical premiered on Broadway in 2000 via Off-Broadway’s Public Theater, earning seven Tony Award nominations the same year, including for Best Musical. In an apparent coincidence, the work premiered shortly after the world premiere of a separate musical adaptation of the same source material featuring a book, music, and lyrics by Andrew Lippa (The Addams Family). That work played Off-Broadway via Manhattan Theatre Club.<\/p>\n

Lili-Anne Brown is directing the Encores! staging, and Katie Spelman<\/a> will choreograph, with guest music director Daryl Waters<\/a> at the baton. The production will feature choreography by Katie Spelman,\u00a0scenic design by Arnel Sancianco, costume design by Linda Cho<\/a>, lighting design by Justin Townsend<\/a>,\u00a0sound design by Alex Neumann<\/a>, and hair and wig design by Tom Watson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The production is being presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals<\/a>.<\/p>\n
