Liberty, NY (WRGB) \u2014 The New York State Police have announced the arrest of 31-year-old Matthew Jones of Liberty, NY, on charges related to child sexual exploitation. Jones was arrested on Feb. 6, 2026, and is charged with possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child less than 16 years of age, a Class E felony.<\/p>\n
The arrest follows a proactive investigation that began in November 2025. Authorities revealed that Jones was in possession of images and videos depicting the sexual exploitation of children. A search warrant was executed at Jones’ residence in Liberty in February 2026.<\/p>\n
The investigation was conducted by the New York State Police Troop F Computer Crimes Unit, in coordination with the Troop F Child Abuse Unit, State Police Liberty Barracks, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Liberty, and the FBI.<\/p>\n
