NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) \u2013 Nurses from two of three New York City hospitals<\/a> have ratified new contracts to end their strikes.<\/p>\n

As of Tuesday, all 15,000 striking nurses reached tentative agreements<\/a> with their hospitals: NewYork-Presbyterian, Montefiore and Mount Sinai. Then, each nurse voted whether to push the deal through.<\/p>\n

Negotiating committee nurses from NewYork-Presbyterian voted against the ratification of the mediators\u2019 proposal, meaning roughly 4,500 nurses will return to the picket line<\/a> on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Negotiating nurses for Montefiore and Mount Sinai agreed to ratify the proposals, ending the strike for those nurses.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe all striking nurses deserve to see the details of their tentative agreements and get the opportunity to vote on whether to ratify a new contract,\u201d said NYSNA President Nancy Hagans.<\/p>\n

Some NewYork-Presbyterian nurses told PIX11 News they were unhappy with NYSNA\u2019s decision to put the contract to a vote. NewYork-Presbyterian was the last hospital to make a tentative deal with the nurses\u2019 union a day behind the other hospitals.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe contract, it was sort of forced upon us, did not get reviewed by our local bargaining unit,\u201d said Saber Uddin, a registered nurse at NewYork-Presbyterian.<\/p>\n

Uddin said he does not believe members will push the contract<\/a> through without better staffing protections.<\/p>\n

Union officials said the contracts included key protections, including increased staffing and a 12% salary bump over three years.<\/p>\n

The negotiating committee nurses at NewYork-Presbyterian shot down the ratification by a vote of 3099 to 867, according to a committee spokesperson.<\/p>\n

Union officials said Mount Sinai, Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West voted 87% and 96% yes, respectively. Montefiore ratified its contract by a vote of 86%.<\/p>\n

Nurses from Montefiore, Mount Sinai, Mount Sinai West and Mount Sinai Morningside will all return to work.<\/p>\n

NYSNA President Nancy Hagans said the new contracts \u201censure that our hospitals are safer places.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis hard-earned victory shows hospitals that\u00a0they\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0cut corners on patient care.\u00a0Now\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0time for\u00a0NewYork-Presbyterian to do the right thing, agree to a fair contract and bring all our nurses back to work<\/a>,\u201d Hagans added.<\/p>\n
