A deadly rush-hour shooting left one teenager dead and two others injured Wednesday evening, sparking chaos in a busy stretch of the Bronx filled with commuters, students and local businesses.<\/p>\n
Police have now identified the 16-year-old boy who died as Christopher Redding.<\/p>\n
Dozens of officers rushed to the corner of West 238th Street and Broadway, where eyewitness video shows first responders performing chest compressions on a 16-year-old boy who had been shot in the back. Another teen was seen sitting nearby with a gunshot wound to the leg. Just feet away, a 13-year-old girl was bleeding from her leg after also being struck.<\/p>\n
All three teens were taken to St. Barnabus Hospital. Police say the 16-year-old later died. The two other teens are expected to survive.<\/p>\n
Sources tell News 12 the shooting appears to be gang-related and may have started after an argument broke out down the block at a local fast-food restaurant.<\/p>\n
Neighbors told News 12 they heard several gunshots. <\/p>\n
\u201cTo know that a 16-year-old is dead\u2026 I can\u2019t even imagine. I have a brand-new son myself. It\u2019s chilling. I\u2019m at a loss for words,\u201d said Bryan, a new father who lives in the area. <\/p>\n
The NYPD says the search for the shooter is ongoing. There is currently no description of the suspect.
