An ex-gym teacher and girls\u2019 basketball coach in the Bronx <\/a>allegedly brought his 14-year-old student to a motel and raped her after a game, prosecutors revealed in a stomach-turning indictment.<\/p>\n

Jayvone Johnson, 35, was indicted on Wednesday for a slew of charges, including second-degree rape and sexual abuse, for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl who previously played on the girls\u2019 basketball team he coached, Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark announced in a statement. <\/p>\n

Johnson was arrested in December for the disturbing assault that took place a year prior while he worked as a \u201cphysical education specialist\u201d and a middle school basketball coach at the Icahn Charter School 2 in the Van Nest neighborhood, according to his\u00a0LinkedIn<\/a>\u00a0profile.<\/p>\n

On Dec. 23, 2024, Johnson allegedly approached the teen he was coaching after a basketball game at the Bronx charter school, prosecutors said.<\/p>\n

He then persuaded her to go to the JetSet Motel near Third Avenue and East 184th Street with him, where he proceeded to rape the victim, the DA alleged.<\/p>\n

Johnson held both positions at the charter school while also serving as the program director of the after-school New York Junior Tennis & Learning program, which he oversaw through March 2024.<\/p>\n

The alleged creep boasted on his LinkedIn profile how teaching middle schoolers taught him \u201cabout patience and engaging the minds of the youth,\u201d whom he aspired to help \u201cget recruited at colleges of all types to pursue their dreams.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe that this will not only be a job to me but a passion. I want to recruit kids to places where I believe they may fit in and gain a wonderful experience,\u201d Johnson wrote on his profile.<\/p>\n

The Icahn Charter School 2 previously declined to comment on Johnson\u2019s arrest, but said that he \u201cis no longer employed by the school.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis defendant allegedly brought the teenage girl to a motel. There he allegedly raped the victim. As a basketball coach this defendant had the trust of school leaders, parents and students. In this instance instead of honoring that trust, he broke it,\u201d Clark said in a statement. <\/p>\n
