The exhibit shows Joseph\u2019s history from his free Black community of Belvidere, N.J., through his family\u2019s migration to New York City, and what he and Rachel built. The objects are from The Met collection and the \u201cFighting for Freedom: Black Craftspeople and the Pursuit of Independence\u201d exhibition, organized by the Black Craftspeople Digital Archive and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Museum. The dance classes, led by Ailey Extension instructors, will take you on a fun, unique journey across different dance genres. DJ sets, art making, and more are included. This upcoming class is West African-themed, led by West African dancer Maguette Camara. The class is open to all ages and skill levels. Admission to the event is free, but tickets are required.
