Determines staff assignments and reassignments; maintains time and attendance records; completes performance evaluations; arranges for and trains staff in the implementation and documentation of services; and monitors staff activities to ensure compliance with applicable guidelines and instructions.Implements or supervises the implementation of portions of individual habilitation plans, including activities, programs, work, and leisure times. Job description: The George A. Jervis Clinic at the state Institute for Basic Research in Developmental Disabilities is a unique, state operated diagnostic and research clinic that serves children and adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, genetic disorders, epilepsy and Autism Spectrum Disorder. <\/p>\n

The clinic is multi-disciplinary, providing psychiatric, psychological, behavior, developmental behavioral pediatric and other evaluations to individuals seeking diagnosis and\/or recommendations for challenging presentations. <\/p>\n

The candidate should have excellent clinical and communication skills, and experience supervising clinicians of varying disciplines (social work, psychology, medical). Experience with individuals and families with rare genetic diseases is a plus as is a history of working in social services\/patient care.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities will include continuing to maintain the current NYS IBR Brain and Tissue Bank\u2019s collection of frozen and formalin-fixed brain tissue and overseeing its expansion. On-site centralized service include, but are not limited to, microscopy services, including confocal, light sheet and electron microscopy; mass spectrometry; laboratory Animal Resource Center and Editorial\/Grant Writing services and statistical analysis.<\/p>\n

Current research underway in this department includes, but is not limited to, projects designed to characterize: 1) the dynamics of multi-regional neurodegeneration and neuronal loss in Down syndrome; 2) statistical modeling of differences between type, topography, severity and dynamics of neurodegeneration and neuronal loss in Trisomy 21 and Down syndrome with early onset Alzheimer\u2019s Disease; 3) comparison of unbiased stereological estimates of neuropathological changes in developmental defects of brain glymphatic system in individuals with Down syndrome and 4) detection of developmental abnormalities of serotonergic system and brain neurotransmitter systems in Autism Spectrum Disorder. <\/p>\n

Department scientists utilize Microbrightfield image analyzers with Stereo investigators and Neurolucida and work with colleagues trained in 3-D reconstruction as well as in matching clinical MRI with postmortem 3-D imaging of neuronal networks and vascular systems.<\/p>\n

IBR is the research arm of the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). OPWDD is responsible for coordinating services for New Yorkers with intellectual and\/or developmental disabilities (IDD), including intellectual disabilities, Down syndrome, autism spectrum disorders, rare genetic syndromes, and other neurological impairments.<\/p>\n

Service & Repair Mechanic Motor Equipment,<\/a> South Beach Psychiatric Center, for the New York State Office of Mental Health, 777 Seaview Ave., Ocean Breeze. This is a permanent, full-time position.<\/p>\n

Service & Repair Mechanics (Motor Equipment) perform skilled mechanical work in automotive repair shops in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of gasoline, diesel-powered, and alternative fuel self-propelled and non-self-propelled motor-driven equipment, and may perform routine maintenance and mechanical repairs on disabled vehicles, construction, and other equipment in the field.<\/p>\n

The mechanic diagnoses and performs major and minor mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs on self-propelled and non-self-propelled vehicles and equipment. They also perform body and fender work on self-propelled and non-self-propelled vehicles and equipment and maintain gasoline, alternative fuel, and diesel engines. <\/p>\n

The mechanic also performs preventive maintenance and safety inspections of vehicles and equipment. When licensed by the Department of Motor Vehicles, may perform NYS Motor Vehicle Inspections. <\/p>\n

They maintain diesel powered equipment and components such as hydraulic systems, transmissions and differentials, hydraulic and air brakes, automotive electronics, fuel injection systems, turbochargers and starting systems. They also operate test equipment, hand and power tools, including equipment that assists in the diagnosis and repair of electronic engine control systems. <\/p>\n
