STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Two possible storms could bring some snow to the New York City area this weekend.<\/p>\n
According to Matt Benz, a senior meteorologist at AccuWeather, there are two chances for a wet, wintry mix, with the weather station tracking a pair of systems.<\/p>\n
The first chance is Friday evening into Saturday. The possible storm won\u2019t bring strong winds or extreme cold, but areas of northern New Jersey and New York City may receive a coating of snow.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the city, wet roads will be the main concern, if there\u2019s even enough snow to do that,\u201d Benz shared. \u201cBut as you head north, there could be a coating of snow, maybe some slick spots into Saturday morning.\u201d<\/p>\n
The second chance for more winter weather is Sunday. A possible west-to-east storm is currently heading toward the southern East Coast, but could hook back upward toward the New York area. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe big question mark is, does it move off the coast, or does it try to hook north,\u201d said Benz. \u201cAnd that\u2019s kind of the question as far as what kind of precipitation or how much precipitation we\u2019ll see locally.\u201d <\/p>\n
While forecasters don\u2019t expect this to be a heavy snowstorm due to warmer conditions, possible accumulation is still unknown.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt looks like temperatures will be into the 40s for both Saturday and Sunday,\u201d Benz stated. \u201cHighs will be in the lower 40s, and then temperatures at night near freezing. So that will help limit if we do see the snow limit accumulations.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sunday morning is predicted to be dry, but late afternoon into the night could bring light wind, slushy snow and wet driving conditions.
