{"id":131569,"date":"2026-02-12T18:53:12","date_gmt":"2026-02-12T18:53:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/131569\/"},"modified":"2026-02-12T18:53:12","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T18:53:12","slug":"nysp-arrest-78-year-old-after-animals-seized-in-granville-cruelty-investigation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/131569\/","title":{"rendered":"NYSP arrest 78-year-old after animals seized in Granville cruelty investigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Granville, NY (WRGB) \u2014 A Granville man is facing animal cruelty-related charges after New York State Police said an investigation found multiple animals living without adequate shelter, food or water at a Granville property.<\/p>\n<p>On Feb. 11, 2026, State Police arrested 78-year-old Ernest Wood of Granville, New York, on six counts of Agriculture and Markets Law 353: Overdriving, Torturing and Injuring Animals; Failure to Provide Proper Sustenance.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cbs6albany.com\/news\/local\/numerous-animals-seized-from-granville-home-police-say-dogs-pigs-rabbits-birds-chickens-ducks-doves-quail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PREVIOUS COVERAGE: Numerous animals seized from Granville home, police say<\/a><\/p>\n<p>State Police said they received a report of possible animal neglect on Feb. 4, 2026. Investigators later discovered numerous animals at 244 DeKalb Road in Granville that were without adequate shelter, food or water, police said.<\/p>\n<p>All animals in Wood\u2019s possession were seized on Feb. 7, 2026, according to State Police. The animals included two dogs, seven pigs, five rabbits and numerous birds, including chickens, ducks, doves and quail.<\/p>\n<p>Police said Wood surrendered himself to SP Granville, where he was arrested and processed.
