As the young, handsome scion to the prestigious Kennedy<\/a> name, John F. Kennedy Jr. was the most eligible bachelor in the Manhattan of the 1990s. When he started dating Calvin Klein publicist Carolyn Bessette in 1992, the two quickly became the “it couple” of the decade. Their fame and mystique persisted through their courtship, wedding, and even after the couple’s tragic deaths in 1999. Tonight, it gets new life with the premiere of Ryan Murphy’s highly anticipated anthology series Love Story, which chronicles a part fact-part fiction retelling of Bessette and Kennedy’s whirlwind romance. <\/p>\n

The series also walks us through their version of New York City, one that was highly photographed and documented. When Bessette and Kennedy got together, everyone wanted to know everything about the couple\u2014what they wore, what they did, when they fought, what they ate, and, of course, where they went. The pair was frequently photographed out and about, leaving a well-cataloged map of frequented bars, restaurants, and haunts. Here, we chronicled JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy’s tour of New York City.<\/p>\n

The Odeon opened its doors to the neighborhood of Tribeca in 1980, and has long remained a popular restaurant in downtown Manhattan.<\/p>\n

When this French-American brasserie opened its doors on West Broadway in 1980, it quickly became a fixture in its Tribeca neighborhood. As residents of the area, Bessette and Kennedy had date nights at the restaurant, lounging in the red leather banquettes.<\/a> Author Tim English wrote about<\/a> how The Odeon was even where the couple rekindled their romance. <\/p>\n

\u201cBy the early summer of 1994, John Jr. had been seeking to reunite with Carolyn for some time. It finally happened one evening when Carolyn was working a private event for Calvin Klein [at The Odeon], to which John showed up,\u201d English writes<\/a>. \u201cCarolyn intervened before he could be turned away at the door, and the pair then spent the rest of the night talking. But by the end of the summer, they were going steady.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bessette and Kennedy were frequently photographed outside of this cozy brunch spot in Tribeca. English told Thrillist<\/a> it was one of the couple’s favorite haunts. Their orders? Blueberry pancakes for Kennedy, matzo ball soup for Bessette.

Located in East Harlem, JFK Jr. frequently biked up to this legendary Italian restaurant.<\/p>\n

Rao’s is one of New York’s hardest to get reservations. The only way to get a table is to either have a standing reservation or know someone with a connection. Back in 1990’s, it was one of JFK Jr.’s favorite place to grab a plate of pasta. Though located up in East Harlem\u2014far from Bessette and Kennedy’s Tribeca home\u2014Kennedy would frequently bike uptown to this legendary Italian restaurant. <\/p>\n

Tribeca Grill<\/p>\n

Owned by Robert De Niro and restaurateur Drew Nieporent, Tribeca Grill was another one of Bessette and Kennedy usual spots. They even booked the restaurant for Kennedy’s 35th birthday dinner. Surrounded by expressionist paintings by De Niro’s father, the dinner was a tasteful precursor before the couple and their friends went off to Mudville 9. <\/p>\n

Also known as Mudville Nine Saloon, Bessette and Kennedy threw an all-night dance party at this still-open Tribeca dive bar to close out Kennedy’s 35th. <\/p>\n

TikTok and Gen-Z recently discovered that this historic Greenwich Village pharmacy was where<\/a> Bessette bought her Charles J. Wahba<\/a> tortoiseshell headbands.
