STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Members of the FDNY, along with family and friends, gathered for a walk-out ceremony honoring Probationary Firefighter Christopher Dorato of Engine 167 in Annadale after he was released Thursday afternoon from Northwell Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze. <\/p>\n

Dorato was one of two firefighters and a civilian who suffered non-life-threatening injuries during a three-alarm blaze at a home in Great Kills on Friday, Jan. 30. He sustained a severe leg injury requiring five surgeries, according to a post on the department\u2019s X account<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The fire broke out at 250 Elverton Ave.<\/a>, a dead-end street off Leverett Avenue, on Friday, Jan. 30 at 11:23 p.m., according to a spokesperson for the FDNY. <\/p>\n

A photographer for the Advance\/SILive.com saw a wall collapse within the structure. Fire personnel were evacuated from the home to continue contending with the blaze from the outside.<\/p>\n

While the Department of Buildings was requested at the scene due to the partial collapse, the FDNY spokesperson noted that none of the injuries were sustained from this collapse.<\/p>\n
