There is an ongoing feud between royals Kate Middleton<\/a> and Queen Camilla<\/a>, insiders say. Although word on the street is that this is a \u201cfood war,\u201d there is evidence that the tensions run deeper.<\/p>\n

According to OK! sources<\/a>, Camilla opened up about avoiding chili, garlic and peppers, ingredients that are Kate\u2019s favorite. The Queen\u2019s revelation came during a low-key interview with her food writer son, Tom Parker Bowles. There is speculation that this is symbolic of bigger issues between the royals.<\/p>\n

Insiders claim that \u201cbehind the scenes wars\u201d happen between Camilla and Kate when discussing menus and ingredients for big events.<\/p>\n

In the interview, Camilla said she enjoys baked beans on toast and fresh fish and chips. She added, \u201cI can\u2019t bear peppers, raw or cooked. I\u2019m not a fan of offal either, aside from very good liver. And I avoid chili and garlic too, unlike my son.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her preferences contrast with Kate\u2019s love of Indian food, including curry. During a conversation with model Neelam Gill in April 2016, Kate said she loved Indian food and its spiciness, unlike her husband. Neelam recalled, \u201cShe told me that she loved Indian food so I told her that she\u2019d be fine with the spices.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kate mentioned her love of spice again in October 2019 during a reception at the Aga Khan Centre in London prior to an official visit to Pakistan. She said to guests, \u201cIt\u2019s so hard cooking curry with the family though. The children have a portion with no spice,\u201d then turned to William<\/a>, saying, \u201cYours is medium. And I quite like it hot.\u201d<\/p>\n

A palace insider noted, \u201cOn the surface, this sounds trivial, but food is just another way Kate and Camilla\u2019s massive differences are playing out. Camilla prides herself on simplicity and tradition, while Kate is much more experimental and outward-looking, and that reflects how they each see the future of the monarchy.\u201d<\/p>\n

A source speculates that Camilla feels William and Kate are too much of an influence over Charles and the monarchy<\/a>, and it\u2019s too soon. \u201cIt\u2019s not really about chili or garlic,\u201d the source said. \u201cIt\u2019s about control, influence, and who gets to shape what the monarchy looks like next.\u201d<\/p>\n
