STATEN ISLAND, New York (WABC) — FDNY firefighters, family and friends came together for a walkout ceremony on Thursday, to celebrate the release of a firefighter from the hospital.<\/p>\n

Probationary firefighter Christopher Dorato of Engine 167 seriously injured his leg on Jan. 31 while battling a fire on Staten Island.<\/p>\n

Dorato underwent five surgeries in his nearly two-week-long stay at the Staten Island University Hospital North.<\/p>\n

He is now finally home with his family.<\/p>\n
