Kate McKinnon spoke to PEOPLE at the Sundance Film Festival premiere of In the Blink of an Eye<\/p>\n

Following her time living in New York City and starring on Saturday Night Live, McKinnon confirms that she\u2019s \u201cliving in the woods\u201d now<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m doing that pretty hard,\u201d she adds of life these days<\/p>\n

Kate McKinnon<\/a> is living the country life.<\/p>\n

The actress, 42, spoke to PEOPLE at the Jan. 26 Sundance Film Festival<\/a> premiere of her new movie In the Blink of an Eye<\/a> and confirmed that she has swapped New York City for life in an unspecified rural location.<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m living in the woods,\u201d McKinnon says with a smile. \u201cI moved to the woods \u2014 and I’m doing that pretty hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yes, the Saturday Night Live <\/a>alum<\/a> is \u201cserious,\u201d she adds, and yes, she loves it. \u201cCome over,\u201d she tells PEOPLE. \u201cI\u2019ll make you pie.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked for what she\u2019s leaving behind in 2025 and bringing into 2026, McKinnon says, \u201cWe are manifesting things being okay on some level.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since her Emmy<\/a>-winning run on SNL from 2012 to 2022, the actress and comedian has starred in such Hollywood projects as Barbie<\/a>, The Roses<\/a> and now In the Blink of an Eye, director Andrew Stanton\u2019s<\/a> sci-fi epic.<\/p>\n

But she\u2019s also left bustling Manhattan for a homestead in the country, as she told Amy Poehler<\/a> on the Good Hang<\/a> podcast<\/a> in October. \u201cI think the reason I\u2019ve done it is that I believe very much that we are doomed,\u201d she said at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy goal is surviving the apocalypse [for] four days,\u201d joked McKinnon. \u201cIf I can make it to four, oh mama, I will have achieved something.\u201d<\/p>\n

After bidding farewell to SNL in 2022 \u2014 wrapping up a run as the sketch show\u2019s first openly lesbian cast member and, at that time, the longest tenure of any other female cast member \u2014 McKinnon explained<\/a> on Live With Kelly and Ryan that she \u201cthought about it for a very long time, and it was very, very hard. \u2026 I loved it, I had the best decade, and then I was just like, my body was tired, and I felt like it was time.”<\/p>\n

In the Blink of an Eye, also starring Rashida Jones<\/a> and Daveed Diggs<\/a>, is on Hulu Feb. 27.<\/p>\n
