{"id":133776,"date":"2026-02-14T22:48:27","date_gmt":"2026-02-14T22:48:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/133776\/"},"modified":"2026-02-14T22:48:27","modified_gmt":"2026-02-14T22:48:27","slug":"davis-matches-career-high-with-28-points-womens-hoops-wins-second-in-a-row-over-canisius","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/133776\/","title":{"rendered":"Davis Matches Career-High With 28 Points; Women&#8217;s Hoops Wins Second In A Row Over Canisius"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>                    &#13;<br \/>\n                        &#13;<br \/>\n &#13;<\/p>\n<p>RIVERDALE, N.Y.\u00a0\u2013 The Manhattan Jaspers women&#8217;s basketball team (7-18, 7-9\u00a0MAAC), led by 28 points from <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/brianna-davis\/11804\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11804\" target=\"_blank\">Brianna Davis<\/a>, put together their second consecutive win, this time\u00a0against the Golden Griffins\u00a0from Canisius\u00a0(4-21, 2-14\u00a0MAAC) by a final score\u00a0of 68-55\u00a0inside Draddy\u00a0Gymnasium\u00a0on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>HOW IT HAPPENED<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tAfter Canisius grabbed the opening bucket, Davis finally got one to fall through the hoop over two and a half minutes in, knotting up the contest.\u00a0&#13;<br \/>\n\tAll of Manhattan&#8217;s first seven points came through the hands of Davis, with a three-point shot being included in that total.&#13;<br \/>\n\tHana M\u00fchl, Agar Farr\u00e9s Garcia, and <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/tatianna-collins\/11806\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11806\" target=\"_blank\">Tatianna Collins<\/a> all joined the scoring column, enough to give the Green and White an eight point lead after 10 minutes.&#13;<br \/>\n\tDavis increased her tally to 14 with another deep shot early in the second,\u00a0more than the Golden Griffins&#8217; 13 as a team at that point&#13;<br \/>\n\tAs Canisius brought the deficit to within four\u00a0midway through the frame, Manhattan scored the final 10 points of the half, capped off by a driving layup from Elisa Sol\u00e9 Sanchez with 20 seconds to spare before the break.&#13;<br \/>\n\tSol\u00e9 Sanchez converted all three chances she had from the stripe, giving her seven midway through the third.&#13;<br \/>\n\tTwo more shots from behind the line contributed to eight\u00a0total points in the third for Davis, having 28 by quarter&#8217;s end.&#13;<br \/>\n\tBoth M\u00fchl and Davis got themselves into double digits with layups in the final frame.&#13;<br \/>\n\tCanisius got the game back within single digits with around two minutes to play, but it wasn&#8217;t enough as Manhattan held on for their seventh conference win.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>STATS AND NOTES<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tSenior guard <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/brianna-davis\/11804\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"11804\" target=\"_blank\">Brianna Davis<\/a> led the team with 28\u00a0points, with her total of 20 in the first half being the most any Jasper has accumulated through 20 minutes.
