"NFLJaxson Dart #6 and Cam Skattebo #44 of the New York Giants (Image via Getty) Trade talk has started to build across the NFL, and one idea drawing attention involves Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey and the New York Giants. The discussion comes as both teams adjust to major changes ahead of the 2026 season, including John Harbaugh taking over as the Giants’ head coach and Baltimore shifting toward a younger defense. The Ravens finished 8-9 in 2025, which led to Jesse Minter becoming head coach. The team has begun leaning on younger defensive backs such as Kyle Hamilton, Bilal Kone, and Robert Longerbeam. Humphrey, a first-round pick in 2017 who turns 30 this year, is entering the final season of his contract with a $26 million cap hit. That number, along with Baltimore’s focus on youth, has made him a realistic trade candidate even though he continues to produce.

Why Marlon Humphrey is part of trade speculation

Baltimore Ravens appear to be preparing for a reset in the secondary. Moving Marlon Humphrey would create cap space and allow the coaching staff to build around younger players in Minter’s system. The added financial flexibility could also help address needs elsewhere on the roster. The New York Giants have their own concerns. Deonte Banks, Paulson Adebo, and Andru Phillips headlined a secondary that struggled for consistency in 2025. The unit lacks an established veteran, and new defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson, who previously worked with Baltimore, runs a scheme that fits Humphrey’s physical style.

Proposed trade structure

One proposal sends Marlon Humphrey to New York Giants for a 2026 fourth-round pick (No. 105) and a 2027 sixth-round pick. The compensation is similar to the 2020 trade that sent Darius Slay to Philadelphia, though slightly lower because of Humphrey’s injury history. If the deal happens after June 1, Baltimore would save more than $19 million against the cap. The Giants would add an experienced corner without giving up premium draft selections.

What each side gains

Ravens gain flexibility: Clearing Humphrey’s salary supports the transition to a younger secondary and provides room to strengthen other positions while adding draft depth behind Hamilton.Giants strengthen the secondary: Humphrey already knows Harbaugh and fits naturally into Wilson’s defense. Pairing him with Banks and Adebo would give New York a more stable cornerback group.Humphrey gets opportunity: He would likely step into a short-term role with the chance to earn an extension. His physical approach matches what the Giants want defensively.

Pros and cons of the move

– Pros: The New York Giants would add leadership and experience to a thin secondary, giving the unit a chance to become playoff level. Baltimore would gain cap relief and extra picks after a losing season. Humphrey’s four interceptions last year would have topped the Giants’ cornerbacks.- Cons: The Baltimore Ravens could see a drop in defensive performance if their younger corners are not ready. The move would also leave roughly $12 million in dead cap by 2027. For the Giants, durability is a concern after Humphrey missed time in 2025, and the trade could turn into a one-year arrangement without an extension. Age is another factor, as many corners decline after 30, reflected in a 90.3 passer rating allowed. Also read: NFL trade rumors: San Francisco 49ers $12.6 million Buffalo Bills edge rusher to bolster pass-rush; Possible Nick Bosa reunion?

Who benefits most?

The New York Giants appear to benefit slightly more. Adding a proven veteran at a modest cost could stabilize the defense and help the team improve under Harbaugh. Baltimore Ravens would gain financial room and future assets, but moving a long-time starter would signal a roster transition that carries some risk.

[8
2671,57126,57124,9,24,55,54,2683,57125,56
post-133868","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-new-york-city","tag-baltimore-ravens","tag-cornerback-trade","tag-marlon-humphrey","tag-new-york","tag-new-york-city","tag-new-york-city-headlines","tag-new-york-city-news","tag-new-york-giants","tag-nfl-trade-rumors","tag-ny
["GET
