A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with murder in the Bronx shooting that killed 16-year-old football standout <\/a>Christopher Redding and wounded two other teens, police said.<\/p>\n

The suspect was taken into custody Saturday in the northwest Bronx.<\/p>\n

The teen was hit with a slew of charges, including murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, assault and criminal possession of a loaded firearm, according to the NYPD.<\/p>\n

Police have not publicly identified the arrested teen because he is a minor.<\/p>\n

The arrest is the first in connection with Wednesday\u2019s deadly shooting at Broadway and West 238th Street in Kingsbridge.<\/p>\n

Redding, 16, was shot in the back around 5:10 p.m. after a dispute inside a nearby McDonald\u2019s, which spilled into the street and escalated into a street brawl, according to his father.<\/a><\/p>\n

Officers responding to a 911 call of multiple people shot found Redding gravely wounded along with a 15-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl, both struck in the right leg, cops said.<\/p>\n

EMS rushed all three to St. Barnabas Hospital, where Redding was pronounced dead. The two younger teens were listed in stable condition.<\/p>\n

Redding, of 1454 Walton Ave., had gone out to get food when the chaos erupted, his father, Bryan Corley, said.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was going to get something to eat,\u201d Corley said. \u201cSome kids started trouble, words were exchanged, and that\u2019s what happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

Corley said the teen was trying to help a friend when the chaos turned deadly.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we hear is that there was an altercation inside the McDonald\u2019s with one of his female friends and an older lady who had a young child with her,\u201d Corley said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe lady called the guys. They were antagonizing her. The girl called my son, Christopher. He got over there and separated them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAs he was walking away with the girl, the kid pulled out a gun and started shooting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Three additional suspects remain at large.<\/p>\n

NYPD detectives released surveillance images of four people wanted in connection with the shooting.<\/p>\n

Authorities have not disclosed what sparked the initial dispute inside the McDonald\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Investigators are probing whether the shooting was gang-related and whether Redding was targeted or caught in the chaos.<\/p>\n

Anyone with information about the remaining suspects is asked to call the NYPD\u2019s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
