BATON ROUGE, La. \u2014\u00a0The Sam Houston bowling team is bringing home some hardware after wrapping up competition\u00a0at the Southern Queens tournament at All Star Lanes on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The Bearkats went 1-1 in the championship bracket to place second behind UAB, but it was a close battle to the end.<\/p>\n
Sam Houston topped UAB 4-3 to open the day and receive a bye to the title game only to see the Blazers pull out a 4-1-1 win in the championship match. UAB was able to regroup with a win over host Southern to earn a rematch with the Kats.<\/p>\n
The Bearkats remain in second place and will be seeded No. 2 in the championship bracket on Sunday. Sam Houston went 3-2 on Saturday and has 9,577 total pins behind first-place UAB which is 7-2 with 9,697 pins.<\/p>\n
Southern was third with Jax State, Alabama State and Alabama A&M rounding out the top six.<\/p>\n
