An all new concert production of Prince of Egypt is set to come to the stage next year.\u00a0According to an ad one Reddit user received<\/a> at a performance of Jane Eyre, Manhattan Concert Productions will bring Prince of Egypt, the musical featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz<\/a> and book by Philip LaZebnik<\/a>, to Lincoln Center’s David Geffen<\/a> Hall in February 2027.<\/p>\n

No official announcement has been made about this production at this time, and all further details and casting will be announced later.<\/p>\n

About Prince of Egypt<\/p>\n

Based on the\u00a0Book of Exodus\u00a0with songs from the\u00a0DreamWorks Animation\u00a01998 film of the same name, the musical follows the life of\u00a0Moses\u00a0from being a prince of\u00a0Egypt\u00a0to his ultimate destiny of leading the\u00a0Children of Israel\u00a0out of Egypt. Starting from a workshop in 2015, the first production was mounted in 2017 in California.<\/p>\n

A significantly revised new version opened at the\u00a0Dominion Theatre\u00a0in\u00a0London’s West End\u00a0for a limited 39-week engagement beginning on February 5, 2020, directed by Scott Schwartz<\/a>, choreographed by Sean Cheesman<\/a>, and a design team including Kevin Depinet<\/a>, Ann Hould-Ward<\/a>, Mike Billings<\/a>, Gareth Owen<\/a>, Jon Driscoll<\/a>, and Chris Fisher<\/a>.\u00a0The West End version featured new costumes by Hould-Ward, sets by Depinet, projections by Driscoll, illusions by Fisher, sound by Owens, and hair\/wigs\/makeup by Campbell Young<\/a> Associates, as well as a world premiere song.<\/p>\n

The cast of 38 was headed by Luke Brady<\/a> (Moses),\u00a0Liam Tamne<\/a>\u00a0(Ramses),\u00a0Christine Allado<\/a>\u00a0(Tzipporah),\u00a0Alexia Khadime<\/a>\u00a0(Miriam),\u00a0Joe Dixon<\/a>\u00a0(Seti),\u00a0Debbie Kurup<\/a>\u00a0(Queen Tuya),\u00a0Gary Wilmot<\/a>\u00a0(Jethro), Mercedesz Csampai<\/a> (Yocheved),\u00a0Adam Pearce<\/a>\u00a0(Hotep), Tanisha Spring<\/a> (Nefertari) and Silas Wyatt-Barke<\/a> (Aaron). The production was forced to close on March 17 after just six weeks, due to the government-mandated closure of all theatres in response to the\u00a0COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom. The show reopened on July 1, 2021, and concluded its run on January 8, 2022.\u00a0Clive Rowe<\/a>\u00a0starred as Jethro from July 1 to October 16, 2021.<\/p>\n

The production was filmed by\u00a0Universal Pictures\u00a0Content Group and\u00a0STEAM Motion + Sound\u00a0for a future broadcast, and was released in theaters on October 19, 2023 making $323,497 at the box office.\u00a0The recorded performance was released on\u00a0BroadwayHD\u00a0on November 15 and was followed by a digital release on December 5.<\/p>\n
