\nNew York State Assemblyman Will Barclay presents Diane Cooper-Currier with a proclamation on the occasion of her retirement, as executive director, after more than 40 years of distinguished service to Oswego County Opportunities.<\/p>\n
\t<\/p>\n \t<\/a> \t<\/a> \t<\/a> \t<\/a> \t<\/a> \t<\/a> <\/a> \t\t\t \t<\/a><\/p>\n FULTON \u2013 On the occasion of her retirement as executive director of Oswego County Opportunities, (OCO) Assemblyman Will Barclay recognized Diane Cooper-Currier with a proclamation honoring her for her more than 40 years of distinguished service to Oswego County Opportunities.<\/p>\n Cooper-Currier joined OCO in 1984 as supervisor of the agency\u2019s Girls Group Home. Working directly with youths at the house, she helped young people see hope and let them know that they are resilient and able to survive various situations. She was also instrumental in OCO receiving its first funding to help young people and established, and served as director, for OCO\u2019s Youth Services Division. After serving as deputy executive director from 2002 to 2006, Cooper-Currier was named OCO executive director in 2007.<\/p>\n For the past 18 years she furthered OCO\u2019s mission to meet the needs of the community. Under her leadership OCO\u2019s homeless services programs expanded to serve individuals, families and young adults; the agency built and developed residential homes\u00a0 for\u00a0 its programs which provide services for individuals who are developmentally\u00a0 disabled,\u00a0 dealing\u00a0 with\u00a0 substance use disorder, or struggling with behavioral health issues, and led the\u00a0 development\u00a0 of\u00a0 OCO\u2019s Backstreet\u00a0 Bookstore\u00a0 and Coffee Shop that provides training for community members to opportunity to gain experience in retail services and other skills.<\/p>\n \u201cThis Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stature of the State of New York,\u201d said Barclay. \u201cThroughout her many years of dedication and service to OCO, Diane has earned the admiration, esteem, and affection of her colleagues; she has dedicated her life\u2019s work to improving the lives of others by helping them succeed and see their full potential.\u201d<\/p>\n Print this entry<\/a><\/p>\n Like this:<\/p>\n Like Loading…<\/p>\n
