One person was injured after a fire tore through buildings late Sunday night in Ocean Hill, forcing families out of their homes and leaving visible damage behind.<\/p>\n
Fire crews rushed to 670\u2013672 Decatur St., between Saratoga Avenue and Thomas S. Boyland Street, just before 11 p.m. after reports of a fire in the upper part of the buildings.<\/p>\n
More than 100 fire and EMS workers responded to the scene.<\/p>\n
Officials say one civilian was taken to Interfaith Hospital with moderate injuries. No other injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
The fire was brought under control around 12:30 a.m., according to officials.<\/p>\n
By Monday, windows at 670 Decatur St. were boarded up, workers were on the roof, and a full vacate order was posted on the building \u2014 meaning everyone inside had to leave.<\/p>\n
Next door at 672 Decatur St., a partial work stop order for electrical work was also posted.<\/p>\n
The American Red Cross says it is now helping two households including seven adults and three children. They are receiving emergency assistance, temporary lodging and financial aid.<\/p>\n
Neighbors say they saw heavy smoke pouring from the buildings as firefighters worked to knock down the flames.<\/p>\n
Some residents believe the fire started at 670 Decatur and spread next door, but fire officials say that has not been confirmed.<\/p>\n
