STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Two Staten Island nurses rescued a French bulldog that had been abandoned at their Brooklyn hospital and reunited the canine with its owners last week.<\/p>\n

A dog-loving Brooklyn couple was heartbroken when a crew of four bandits took the dog, Coco Chanel, along with other valuables, during a home invasion, The Post reported.<\/a> <\/p>\n

The armed bandits then dumped the dog in a parking lot at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where Staten Islander Amy O\u2019Sullivan and her wife, Tiffany Latz, are known for their love of animals.<\/p>\n

Latz took the dog into the hospital from the frigid temperatures for safety, then alerted O\u2019Sullivan to pick it up.<\/p>\n

A hospital staffer then recognized the dog from a Post report about the robbery<\/a> and let Latz her know its story. <\/p>\n

The dog\u2019s owners were able to come to the Staten Island couple\u2019s home late Monday, Feb. 9, for a heartfelt reunion with their 2-year-old pup, The Post reported. <\/p>\n

\u201cI missed you!\u201d Coco\u2019s owner, Kevin, swooned while kissing and petting Coco, the report said. \u201cI was devastated. My heart just broke down. I was like, thank God. It was right the next day. I was so emotional.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI was so happy because you found her,\u201d he told O\u2019Sullivan, the report continued. \u201cTo know that your kid is gone. I come home everyday to her. Just thinking how long it is going to take to find her.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the robbery, the gang of four armed bandits broke into the Brooklyn couple\u2019s home, demanded valuables and made off with the bulldog and $8,000 in Pok\u00e9mon cards, the Post story said.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe saw the Post story and was like, \u2018Oh my God. That\u2019s the dog!\u2019\u201d O\u2019Sullivan told the Post. \u201cThat\u2019s how the ball got rolling.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 62-year-old mother of three, O\u2019Sullivan owns five pets, including a paralyzed French bulldog, the Post reported. She said the frightened dog wouldn\u2019t eat dog food when she got him home, so she served him tuna and oatmeal. <\/p>\n

O\u2019Sullivan has been recognized for her exceptional work in the hospital\u2019s emergency room during the COVID-19 pandemic and was named one of Time Magazine\u2019s Top 100 influential people of 2020.<\/a><\/p>\n

Listed beside leaders such as Dr. Anthony Fauci, President Donald Trump and then-presidential candidate Joe Biden, along with icons such as Angela Davis, Naomi Osaka and dozens of others, O\u2019Sullivan told SILive.com at the time that she \u201ccould not believe\u201d she received the honor.<\/p>\n
