{"id":136153,"date":"2026-02-17T14:51:08","date_gmt":"2026-02-17T14:51:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/136153\/"},"modified":"2026-02-17T14:51:08","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T14:51:08","slug":"early-morning-brooklyn-shooting-leaves-man-dead-in-apartment-building-lobby-cops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/136153\/","title":{"rendered":"Early-morning Brooklyn shooting leaves man dead in apartment building lobby: cops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<img width=\"1200\" height=\"751\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1771339868_222_nypd-shooting-file-lloyd-mitchell-2025.jpg\" class=\"crop-center wp-post-image\" alt=\"NYPD car at scene of Brooklyn shooting\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"   title=\"Early-morning Brooklyn shooting leaves man dead in apartment building lobby: cops 1\"\/>\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>FILE \u2013 Police at a crime  scene<\/p>\n<p>Photo by Lloyd Mitchell <\/p>\n<p>Police in <a href=\"http:\/\/amny.com\/brooklyn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Brooklyn<\/a> are searching for the suspect responsible for shooting one man dead and wounding another inside the lobby of an apartment building early Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Officers from the <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/nypd75pct\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">75th Precinct<\/a> were called to 503 Euclid Ave. in East New York just after midnight on Feb. 17 after receiving reports of shots fired. <\/p>\n<p>The responding cops discovered two men with gunshot wounds: 24-year-old Jarell Sutton, who had been shot in the chest, and another 24-year-old man, who had been struck in the right foot.<\/p>\n<p>EMS rushed Sutton to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Meanwhile, a third party whisked the second injured man to the same hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.<\/p>\n<p>Police say they have yet to piece together a relationship between the two victims or a description of a perpetrator. The motive for the shooting also remains unknown.<\/p>\n<p>During the investigation, police found one shell casing and one bullet in a lobby. No firearm has been recovered.\n<\/p>\n<p>No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.\n<\/p>\n<p>As of Feb. 8, shootings in the confines of the 75th Precinct were down by 50% \u2014 from eight at the same point in 2025, to four this year.\n<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information regarding this shooting can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA).
