A beloved neighborhood pizzeria in Flatbush has reopened, more than a year after it was forced to close its doors.<\/p>\n
Mike\u2019s Pizza, which operated for 23 years on Bedford Avenue, shut down in January 2025 after its landlord sold the property.<\/p>\n
The closure drew an emotional response from longtime customers who called it a staple of the community.<\/p>\n
Last week, the business reopened at 5 Martense St., just off Flatbush Avenue, about four blocks from its original location.<\/p>\n
Owner Mike said he initially did not plan to reopen after losing the Bedford Avenue storefront. But he said the outpouring of support from customers changed his mind.<\/p>\n
\u201cI love the people,\u201d he said. \u201cThey respect me a lot and I want to try to pay back for everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n
Customers were thrilled by the news of their return.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt’s so amazing to see them back here, back in Flatbush,\u201d longtime customer Denis Thomas said. “Mike is still amazing, pizza is amazing, I\u2019m very excited.\u201d<\/p>\n
The shop\u2019s reopening comes at a time when many longstanding businesses are being pushed out of the neighborhood.<\/p>\n
