In our latest Day in the Life photo essay we headed out to Queens to follow NYC Health + Hospitals\/Elmhurst, Community Care, Coordinating Manager Sheryl Goldberg and capture some intimate moments where health care meets everyday life, showing how her presence can bridge the gap between our health care system and the human stories unfolding across our great city.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy days usually start very early. Sometimes I leave my home and head directly to a patient\u2019s home, to do a visit or to accompany them to a doctor\u2019s appointment. It\u2019s one of the ways my role cements the connection with our health system.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou would be surprised what you learn sometimes through simple small talk with an individual. Whether gently asking \u201chow has it been?\u201d or \u201canything new?\u201d \u2026you can learn so much about how someone has been since the last time you saw them.\u201d<\/p>\n

More than just a walk to an appointment, during these moments, Sheryl takes the time to gently check-in with the patient, turning the journey into an act of care.<\/p>\n
