Award-winning actor Peter Greene died inside his New York apartment in December shortly after he suffered an accidental gunshot wound to his upper arm, the medical examiner confirmed to The Post.<\/p>\n
Greene, 60, was found dead in his Lower East Side dwelling<\/a> on Dec. 12 \u2014 the same day he was scheduled to have a benign tumor removed from near his lung.<\/p>\n The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in New York City confirmed Wednesday that Greene sustained a \u201cgunshot wound to the left axilla with injury of brachial artery\u201d and officially deemed his manner of death an \u201caccident.\u201d<\/p>\n Peter Greene\u2019s death was officially declared an accident. GC Images<\/p>\n Given the \u201cPulp Fiction\u201d actor\u2019s tumultuous mental health history, including a suicide attempt in March 1996 and struggles with addiction, many wrongly assumed that he took his own life.<\/p>\n Gregg Edwards, \u201cThe Mask\u201d actor\u2019s longtime manager, spoke with Greene for the last time<\/a> just two days before his sudden death. <\/p>\n \u201cHe sounded okay \u2026 It was just a totally normal conversation. He was a little nervous about the operation going in, but he said it wasn\u2019t super serious,\u201d Edwards told The Post in December.<\/p>\n \u201cHe was talking about that and hoping that I was going to be okay and wishing me well as I was wishing him well. We\u2019re good friends. I love the guy \u2026 We were friends for over a decade.\u201d<\/p>\n Greene had scores of projects lined up at the time of his death, his longtime manager told The Post in December. WireImage<\/p>\n Sometime between their final call and Greene\u2019s accident, neighbors reported hearing Christmas music blaring on a continuous loop from inside the actor\u2019s Clinton Street\u00a0apartment.
