Baby food sold across the United States is under recall for a possible health risk due to elevated levels of toxins.<\/p>\n

IF Copack LLC of Initiative Foods is recalling one lot of the \u201cTippy Toes\u201d brand Apple Pear Banana Fruit puree due to elevated levels of patulin, according to a recall notice posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.<\/a><\/p>\n

Patulin is a naturally occurring substance called mycotoxin, which is produced by molds that may grow in various fruits, including apples. Long-term exposure resulting from ingestion of patulin can lead to various adverse health consequences, including a potential for immune suppression, nerve damage, headache, fever, and nausea, according to the FDA.<\/p>\n

No illnesses or injuries have been reported to date.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt Initiative Foods, the safety of our consumers and their families is our highest priority,\u201d said Don Ephgrave, Initiative Foods\u2019 CEO and president. \u201cWe are cooperating with the FDA to ensure strict review and enhanced safety measures across all our products. We thank our retail partners and customers for their understanding and prompt action on this matter.\u201d<\/p>\n

The baby food product was distributed to retail grocery stores nationwide. It has an expiration date of July 17, 2026, and is marked with package code \u201cINIA0120.\u201d<\/p>\n

Consumers should discontinue use of the product and dispose of it immediately or return to the place of purchase for a refund.<\/p>\n

Consumers should also contact a health-care provider if there are any concerns after consumption of this product.<\/p>\n
