Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark says a Bronx man was sentenced for carrying out a shooting outside a bodega in Morris Heights that left a woman paralyzed from the waist down.<\/p>\n
Ferraud Francis, 40, will serve 11 years behind bars and 10 years post-release supervision for shooting at the 46-year-old woman and her spouse on a busy sidewalk at 1800 Cedar Ave. in 2023, striking the woman twice.<\/p>\n
Francis watched the woman and her 49-year-old partner engage in an argument with a third, unrelated person inside the bodega around 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 4, prosecutors say. He then exited the store and waited for the couple to emerge before pulling out a gun and firing.<\/p>\n
The woman was struck in the leg and abdomen, according to court documents. Her 49-year-old spouse was not injured.<\/p>\n
“The defendant opened fire on a busy sidewalk after watching a dispute involving the victim inside a bodega,\u201d said DA Clark. \u201cDespite not knowing anyone involved, he callously waited outside and fired multiple shots at them, causing life-changing injury to a woman.”<\/p>\n
Prosecutors say Francis will serve six years in prison and five years post-release supervision for attempted murder, as well as five years behind bars and five years post-release supervision for criminal possession of a weapon.<\/p>\n
