The Jewish community gathered in Crown Heights Thursday for an international event full of singing, praying, music, food and fun. <\/p>\n
But the night also brought a strong message against antisemitism. <\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone has been through so much in the last few months. It\u2019s so inspirational,\u201d said 17-year-old Priva Schlanger. <\/p>\n
The teenager attended the global gathering in Brooklyn with her friends from Sydney, Australia. <\/p>\n
Priva\u2019s father, Rabbi Eli Schlanger, was killed in December during a Hannukah terrorist attack at Bondi Beach. <\/p>\n
\u201cMy father was very passionate about the youth and about the teenagers and about educating them and really helping them succeed,\u201d said Priva. <\/p>\n
Rabbi Schlanger grew up in Brooklyn and served the borough before moving to Australia. <\/p>\n
\u201cHis dream was for us to come to New York and to see everyone and be inspired,\u201d said Priva. \u201cWe\u2019re making that a reality.\u201d <\/p>\n
As Priva and her pals from Sydney joined thousands of other Jewish community members, she wanted her message to go global. <\/p>\n
