STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 The New York City Department of Buildings announced on Wednesday three recent enforcement actions it has taken against Staten Island property owners.<\/p>\n

The local enforcement actions include the towing of an illegally-parked recreational vehicle, fines for illegal signage in Charleston, and the removal of 42 shipping containers from a commercial property in Mariners Harbor, according to the Buildings Department.<\/p>\n

All three actions were part of a series of enforcement efforts across the five boroughs highlighted by the Buildings Department in its latest enforcement bulletin.<\/p>\n

The Advance\/SILive.com previously reported the issue in Mariners Harbor where A&J Tires at 2246 Forest Ave. had stacked shipping containers three stories high causing quality of life issues for at least one local man<\/a>. <\/p>\n

A Buildings Department spokesperson said Thursday that the property owner removed the final six storage containers Jan. 6 after removing most of them in 2024.<\/p>\n

The department also completed its tow of the RV Jan. 6 at a Graniteville property on May Avenue, according to the spokesperson. NYPD coordinated the tow operation after years-worth of 311 complaints about the vehicle parked on the property. <\/p>\n

Property owners of the Charleston location on Arthur Kill Road first faced violations for the signage in 2023, but removed the ads last year after receiving a $17,500 fine from a judge with the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings. <\/p>\n
