Junior Brooklyn Smith surpassed 1000 career points during Eminence\u2019s 77-18 win at Fairdale on Thursday, Feb. 19.<\/p>\n

Eminence junior Brooklyn Smith eclipsed 1000 career points during the Warriors\u2019 77-18 win at Fairdale on Thursday, Feb. 19.<\/p>\n
Smith entered the season with 641 career points after tallying three points as a seventh grader, 80 as an eighth grader and 279 points in both her freshman and sophomore seasons.<\/p>\n
Before Thursday\u2019s game, Smith needed 27 points to accomplish the feat.<\/p>\n
She quickly found an offensive rhythm against Fairdale with 11 points in the first quarter.<\/p>\n
As Eminence built a comfortable lead, Smith continued to shine offensively and reached 1000 points by the end of the evening.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was important for her to get to 1K.\u00a0We were up big entering the fourth quarter (59-17), but we kept Brooklyn in because she was making the run to the 1000-point mark,\u201d said head coach Thom Coffee.<\/p>\n
She led the Warriors with 28 points, including 11-of-15 shooting from two-point range.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen she hit the mark, her teammates were so excited for her.\u00a0That is what makes the night special.\u00a0These achievements are not about one kid.\u00a0It is about the teammates who work together over many years and celebrate the success of their teammate,\u201d said Coffee. \u201cBrooklyn is loved by her team.\u00a0She is loved by her coaches. Experiencing a moment like this is awesome for the whole program.\u201d<\/p>\n
Smith is the second Warriors to enter the 1000-point club this season. During Eminence\u2019s season-opening win over Iroquois, Victoria Spiegl hit 1000 career points.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe started off game one of the year celebrating with Victoria getting to 1000, and in our second to last regular season game, we got to celebrate with Brooklyn,\u201d said Coffee. \u201cI don’t know how many schools can claim to have two 1000 point scorers in their backcourt.\u00a0 Not only does Eminence have that, both kids are returning next season.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Junior Brooklyn Smith surpassed 1000 career points during Eminence\u2019s 77-18 win at Fairdale on Thursday, Feb. 19.
