The Paley Center for Media is honoring the 50th season of “Survivor” with an exhibit celebrating the reality juggernaut’s history.<\/p>\n

Fans can check out props from the show like torches and hidden immunity idols, take a seat at Tribal Council, view rare behind-the-scenes photos and see a timeline of the show’s most iconic moments.<\/p>\n

Legacy of Enslaved Africans in Van Cortlandt Park<\/p>\n

Honor Black History Month by\u00a0exploring the legacy of enslaved Africans in Van Cortlandt Park.<\/p>\n

NYC Parks,\u00a0Van Cortlandt Park Alliance and the Van Cortlandt House Museum are offering two guided tours that offer\u00a0participants a chance to reflect on the lives of enslaved Africans whose labor shaped the park.<\/p>\n

One tour focuses on\u00a0the Enslaved African Burial Ground, while the other highlights the site\u2019s history and connections to enslavement. Together, the tours are an approximately two-hour experience.<\/p>\n

New York Comedy Film Festival<\/p>\n

For its inaugural year, The New York Comedy Film Festival is screening feature films, TV episodes and collections of shorts, all with the intent of bringing the laughs.<\/p>\n

The festival closes out this weekend with several more selections, culminating with the presentation of awards Sunday evening.<\/p>\n

Lunar New Year Celebrations<\/p>\n

\nIndustry City event on Sunday, Feb. 22 from noon to 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

The city says Flushing’s Lunar New Year Parade is a “huge draw each year, with vibrant costumes, floats, dancing and traditional Chinese celebrations.”<\/p>\n

The neighborhood is home to Queens’ first and largest Chinatown. The parade steps off in front of the local police precinct at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n

Industry City in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, will host Lunar New Year festivities at the Green Tile Social Club. More than 40\u00a0mahjong tables will be set up for guests to play, and a “curated market of local AAPI-owned businesses,” as well as other local Asian vendors, will be there too.<\/p>\n

“Skate” to the stars at this experience at the New York Hall of Science in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.<\/p>\n

Visitors are given a pair of booties and can glide across the floor, which is made of a materal called Glice \u2014 an eco-friendly, polymer-based surface designed to mimic ice.<\/p>\n

While you skate, projections ripple across the floor and walls, simulating the sensation of drifting through the stars.<\/p>\n

Iceless curling lanes are now free to play at Bryant Park on a first-come, first-served basis. Try your hand at the Olympic sport that’s been compared to a winter version of shuffleboard.<\/p>\n

“Bumper Cars on Ice” is also back at Bryant Park’s Winter Village. The parks says the activity is for ages 7 and up, and recommends\u00a0reserving a time slot<\/a> in advance.<\/p>\n

‘The Future Was Then: The Changing Face of\u00a0Fascist\u00a0Italy’<\/p>\n

An exhibition at The Poster House explores how the fascist government of Italy under Benito Mussolini influenced the art of the period.<\/p>\n

The exhibit features 75 pieces that chronicle Mussolini’s regime, and focuses on “the often blurred line between propaganda and art.”<\/p>\n

It took Joe Macken more than 21 years to build by hand, but his 50-by-27-foot model of New York City is now on display at the Museum of the City of New York.<\/p>\n

The model, made from balsa wood and foam board, includes more than 320 sections. Macken says it began with 30 Rockefeller Plaza in 2004.<\/p>\n

A pop-up at the Museum of Modern Art’s Design Store is made to look like a grocery store \u2014 but nothing is edible. The products may look like croissants, tacos, mustard and milk, but they’re actually everything from lamps and candles to stools, bags and timers.<\/p>\n

The exhibit is an exploration of food as form, with all items available for purchase.<\/p>\n

‘Empire Skate of Mind’<\/p>\n

The Brooklyn Children’s Museum has transformed its rooftop terrace into a retro rink described by organizers as a nod to the Empire Roller Rink that lasted in Brooklyn from the 1940s until 2007.<\/p>\n

Tickets are required<\/a> for the all-ages celebration. Skates, helmets and wrist guards are provided.<\/p>\n

The Orchid Show at NYBG<\/p>\n

“The Orchid Show: Mr. Flower Fantastic\u2019s Concrete Jungle” is now open at the New York Botanical Garden.<\/p>\n

The garden says the exhibit is where “orchids collide with concrete in a dazzling reimagining of the\u00a0Big Apple.” The aesthetics of the city are fused with the beauty of thousands of flowers.<\/p>\n

100 Years of the Schomburg Center<\/p>\n

To celebrate 100 years as an institution dedicated to research in Black culture, the Schomburg Center in Harlem has 100 rare items on display celebrating the history of the African American diaspora.<\/p>\n

A 1948 Brooklyn Dodgers baseball, signed by legends Jackie Robinson and Roy Campanella, and Malcolm X\u2019s briefcase are just two of the gems available to see.<\/p>\n

The library has also released a special book list<\/a> of Black-authored books from the past 100 years titled “100 Black Voices.”<\/p>\n

’45 Years of Pac-Man’<\/p>\n

The Paley Center for Media is celebrating 45 years of the iconic arcade character with two floors of Pac-Man memorabilia.<\/p>\n

Visitors will see items dating back to his creation in Japan in 1980, including Pac-Man lunchboxes, mini-games and Pac-Man-inspired products like Oreos, Krispy Kreme donuts and ramen noodles. There will also be plenty of opportunities to play the game itself, according to the Paley Center.<\/p>\n

‘Noguchi’s New York’<\/p>\n

To celebrate its 40th anniversary, the\u00a0Noguchi Museum in Long Island City has launched “Noguchi’s New York.”<\/p>\n

The exhibit\u00a0focuses on the relationship between\u00a0Japanese American sculptor Isamu Noguchi and New York City.<\/p>\n

New Yorkers may recognize some of his works, like\u00a0the Red Cube at 140 Broadway and Liberty Street, and the Sunken Garden at Chase Manhattan Bank Plaza in Lower Manhattan.<\/p>\n

‘FAREwell, MetroCard’<\/p>\n

After more than three decades in use, the MetroCard is retiring. A new exhibit at the New York Transit Museum invites visitors to learn about its history, including its debut in 1994, the technology behind it and its lasting legacy.<\/p>\n

At Chelsea Market in Manhattan, art made from MetroCards is hanging on the walls near the Ninth Avenue entrance, including framed creations of cats, the five boroughs and a school bus.<\/p>\n

A new exhibit at the Museum of Food and Drink (MOFAD) in Brooklyn is dedicated to the city\u2019s smallest food businesses and the immigrant entrepreneurs who have shaped the city\u2019s flavor and culture.<\/p>\n

Organizers say Street Food City “traces the challenges faced by street food entrepreneurs of the past to today\u2019s fight for vendor rights.” The exhibit’s curator, Catherine Piccoli, and MOFAD president Nazli Parvizi also joined NY1 to discuss the exhibit.<\/a><\/p>\n

‘Impact: The End of the Age of Dinosaurs’<\/p>\n

A new exhibit at the American Museum of Natural History looks at the impact of the asteroid strike that wiped out the dinosaurs\u00a066 million years ago.<\/p>\n

‘Encounters in the Milky Way’<\/p>\n

“Encounters in the Milky Way” is a new show at the Hayden Planetarium that gives visitors a “front-row seat to spectacular moments in our solar system’s past and future.”<\/p>\n

Narrated by Pedro Pascal, the show takes viewers through the paths of stars, comets and other interstellar debris. It’s part of the Rose Center for Earth and Space’s celebration of 25 years since its opening.<\/p>\n
