Workers described the deli as a community staple for the past decade.<\/p>\nPolice said the perpetrator displayed a firearm and removed cash from the register, before fleeing in an unknown direction. It wasn\u2019t immediately clear how much money was taken. <\/p>\n
Neither of the two employees who spoke to the Advance\/SILive.com were working at the time of the robbery, but both said the incident has made them wary.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis has never happened, nothing like this ever,\u201d said one employee. \u201cI mean, I\u2019ve been working here for seven, eight years. I\u2019ve never seen this.\u201d <\/p>\n
Another employee who typically works morning and weekend shifts said she also was shocked to learn about what happened. \u201cIt\u2019s something new here,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019ve heard about things, but never like that.\u201d<\/p>\n
No arrests had been made as of Friday afternoon, as an investigation remained ongoing, according to an NYPD spokesperson. <\/p>\n
